You can find many myths about search engines circulating the Internet due to a widespread misunderstanding of how the search engines work. These myths can be hard to combat because once mistaken ideas are repeated often enough, they are widely believed in. We will be looking at some of these myths in this article so you'll know better than to believe in them.

SEO has been in existence for a long while. It has become so popular because the Internet is growing at a rapid pace which also means that search engines are becoming more advanced. The last few years have been witness to significant evolution in SEO, or the science of ranking in the search engines. And when something grows huge, there is a lot of misinformation floating around that you should aware of. Many SEO myths that you come across look very real and scary but in reality, they're just myths. Some of these stories will be proven wrong in this article.

One myth that many people believe in is that in order to rank well you have to create special pages on your site that are optimized for this purpose. Any of your pages can be highly ranked by the search engines as long as you use basic SEO principles. So creating SEO based landing pages just doesn't make sense. Landing pages are not necessary for organic SEO, though you will need them if you want to advertise with pay per click services. You want your visitors to arrive at one of your site's main pages, rather than trying to create an extra page for them to land on. If you have pages that don't get much traffic, focus on improving them instead of creating new pages. Keep in mind that the only purpose of a landing page is to convert your visitors into customers, not to optimize your site.

A strange SEO myth that is quite common is that PPC marketing will have an effect on how your site performs in the SERPs. This is completely mistaken. A lot of people believe that they can affect the ranking of their site in the SERPs by running PPC ads. However, you need to remember that the two are completely independent of each other and cannot influence one another. For this reason, spending money on Pay per Click advertising expecting your site to rank better is a mistake. You should concentrate more on adding quality content to your site and building backlinks to ensure its rank increases. The most effective way to pass judgment regarding this myth is by being practical. Moving on to our next SEO myth, many people think that they should only be optimizing one keyword on each of their pages. Many website owners are convinced that their pages should not target more than one keyword or phrase, but this is another erroneous belief. People who work on this strategy believe that the more focused your page is, the better it will rank. The main problem with this whole technique is that when you try to write a page that targets a single phrase, it will not sound natural. You are also not using your space efficiently if you only use one keyword per page when you could be using more. What is the point of targeting a single keyword when the same page could be optimizing several keyword phrases? The more keyword phrases you have on your optimized page, the better it is. You'll get more targeted traffic this way. If you do some research on where your traffic is coming from, you'll find that it comes from a variety of keywords. You will have more success with the search engines if you target a variety of keywords on each page.

Another myth is that you should use the words from your Meta tag on that particular page. Even though this is a myth, it still gets taught by many SEO professionals. These keyword tags are meant to be used to find words that don't already appear on the page. In regards to search rank, these tags are not useful

Many people also fall for another SEO fantasy, which is that they need to have a Google Site map The Site map is merely one of the wide variety of tools Google puts at the disposal of web masters. If you build your site the right way and make it search engine friendly, there's absolutely no need for you to have a Google Site map Of course, it won't hurt your site if you have it and it might lead to your site getting indexed a little faster but that's about the limit. You need to be aware of the fact that simply having it will do nothing for your SEO or to improve your rankings.

Many people also believe another SEO myth, the idea that your HTML code can't have tables. This is absolutely not true. The fact is, the search engines have no problem crawling HTML tables, and they never did. The table code has never been a hurdle for the search engines when crawling. This false belief is often repeated by web developers who say that you can get higher rankings with table-less designs.

A long copy works exactly the same way as the short one. The quality of your site's content should be the main focus, not trying to impress search engines. Any amount of content is good - use your common sense to make it the optimal size. It's a good idea to do as much research as you can, so you don't believe in this kind of myth. Take the time to figure out where you can get reliable facts about these issues so you can avoid being misinformed. If you do this before you commit yourself, you can save yourself valuable time.

Generally speaking, no matter how much effort you need to put into SEO, which requires quite a bit of work, it's worth every moment. The most effective way to learn SEO is through experience and not believing these fallacies that appear all the time.
