People usually hear “Network Marketing” and they run for their lives. Unfortunately, this is due to the gross misconception of the business. It is actually a very lucrative system, just as long as you are in a legal one. But in this article, we do not want to focus on that. We want to know how to be a leader in a network marketing concept.
Leadership skills are very useful in a lot of things, but they become very critical in a network marketing scheme because you cannot avoid being with people. It is people that run the network marketing business. If you do not have the any leadership skill, then you better start thinking about looking for another line of business.
There is no guarantee that you will have a successful network of people if you do not know how to handle them. In fact, this kind of business will seriously test your leadership skills, if you think you have any, and will bring out your potential if you think you do not have it.
So what Makes a Good Leader, in Context of a Network Marketing Business?
First and foremost, you must harbor a genuine interest in people. A good leader is interested in people. You can never be a leader if you are not interested in people. If you only look out for yourself, you will not get anywhere. People will subconsciously feel if you are just using them to reach your own goals, and once they do they will disappear. You must have a genuine interest in people, in their lives and in their success. This is the basis of all leadership skills.
Second, you need to make others priority over your own self. People are attracted to those who care about them, but not in a clingy way. We are not trying to worship people here. We are simply giving them the attention that most people lack. Give from what you have, if they need it. Go out of your way just to be there for others, if they need someone to talk to. In fact, that is part of the next point.
Third, listen more than talk. Everyone wants to share their opinion on any subject in the universe. Most people really love to be the center of attention, no matter how much they verbally deny it. People glow if they talk, but most especially if they talk about something they are really passionate about. Do not cut in if someone is talking. Train yourself to wait until the other person is done. If you talk while the other is still speaking, that shows that you are not really interested in her, and you just want to get your own point across.
You must have come across the some differences between a boss and a leader. One of the most important differences between the two is that a boss tells you what to do, while a leader shows you how to do it. You cannot lead by simply saying things. Others have to see you do it. That is how you become a great leader in a network marketing concept.
