Due to the exponential amount of bullying that has been experienced by children nationwide, the news has shown hundreds of stories on this terrible phenomena. It is every parent's hope that their children will not experience bullying while growing up, even so this is not realistic as we all know. We can, nevertheless, talk to our kids, make sure we have open communication, and be as watchful as possible as they grow up.

Bullying has gone to another level, as "cyber-bullying" is now very popular with children that go online. Now instead of feeling safe when they get home, children have to worry about who they meet on the Internet as well. This can happen in a variety of ways, most frequently occurring on social networks like Facebook and MySpace. This is a very harmful thing, which every parent should take seriously. It may not be physical bullying, but being teased, insulted or otherwise tormented online can be very painful and upsetting. Kids that go online should be closely observed by their parents; you should also limit the amount of time your kids are on the Internet to help avoid this problem. Teach your kids how to block e-mails and friend requests on their e-mail accounts and their Facebook account if they have one. Reporting such offenses is the first step you should make which includes contacting the school and social media site as well. Specific areas are where bullying tends to happen, typically when an adult is absent. You can assist your child in producing a strategy for dealing with the bullying if the problem seems to be happening in specific places like the locker room or the school playground at lunch time. During this time you could encourage your child to hang around in a group or with their friends. It's wise to seek out a trustworthy adult at the school who'll be able to watch over your child in the times when he or she is at their most vulnerable. You can limit the bullying going on by removing the chances for the bully to strike, even though the threat may not be removed entirely.

Make the effort to work with the school where your kid studies. If this situation arises with your child, collect yourself and visit the school your child attends and have a consultation. In order to make progress and help the situation, it would behoove you to not fully charge the school with the responsibility. It would be wise to work together with the school. Keeping communication open with the school faculty can be very useful when the time comes for a little understanding. The better you communicate with the school, the more apt you will be to keep the bullying managed. For the most part, because children will not report bullying incidents, be on the lookout for signs that it is occurring. This means keeping a close watch on what your children do when they are surfing on the Internet, or who they are talking to on a regular basis. Help your child in every way that you can deal with the problem they may be experiencing, especially if they are being bullied.
