In order to do that you must get the auditions for acting. It's natural for parents to want to help our children, but coaching them can really hold back their child acting career. You won't get away with pretending you have your scenes memorized. If they like you, they might just work with you!. If you show up at an audition without being prepared, without having your monologue down, you are telling the director that you are not interested enough in the role to put any effort into landing it.

Classes enable you to learn your art while you develop a network. The more you believe the fate of your acting career lies outside of you, the less likely things will happen for you.  Over 98% of the aspiring actors in Los Angeles believe that they have very little to do with the real fate of their careers.  (I made the number up, but it sounds right!)  . Stating your name and contact information simply will keep the agent and casting director focused on what matters - watching your acting and writing down your contact information.

Anyway, when I got shot out of the cannon with a large bang, the understudy was startled and he said, 'What the hell was that?'". Understand your monologue and its relevance to a role and the play it is from. Even if mimicking works at the beginning, it will only take them so far. Directors will often ask about the piece that they are about to see, and you must understand that sometimes, the director is familiar with the play that your monologue is from, and sometimes they are not.

You know what level of success you would like to obtain. Think outside the box and make the role your own. Only pick your best acting moments (and make sure you include close-ups so the viewer knows which actor he's looking at). Ideally, it shouldn't feature a close-up of any other actor for more than a few seconds). Go to for more information on marketing to Hollywood.

You don't want to be a hard sell, but you do want to strive to be noticed. Children actors don't need that much training and "acting technique". The roles you will be offered are exactly the roles you display on your reel. An "A level" agency has the greatest power, "pull", and prestige. An observable reality is that an agent can't tell if you are a good storyteller unless she sees you telling a story.

You want to know that piece and the feelings of it so intimately that it could be your own thoughts, and your own experiences that you are telling about on stage. With this, he has got to have a clear grasp on the talent and special skills of your child that will help him land a good job.

An acting coach helps you learn to apply the craft of acting with a broader more personal approach. Being around other kid actors and knowing what to expect when they go to children acting auditions will help them book their first acting job. He played "Dudley", Gary Coleman's best friend on the hit 1980's television show "Diff'rent Strokes". Their job is to send your headshot and resume out to every casting director possible so you can be seen. 1.  Identify a reasonable, attainable next step for you in your career.

If you have never Co-Starred on a network TV series, it is very unlikely that you will be cast in a Guest Star Role.  If you've never auditioned for a TV series, you're not likely going to replace Katherine Heigl on "Grey's Anatomy." If you're trained, but you're new to television, your next step could be to have a line or two on a show. Remember that if you are not chosen for a role this time, it doesn't mean that you are not liked. Put your name and contact info on the back, in case the photo gets separated from the resume. If your only reply to 'What do you have for us?' is, "This is a monologue from "The Odd Couple" , then you are in trouble.

When getting services from an agency, they will usually provide you with an agent who is an expert at talent business. While you are pursuing your acting career don't forget to maintain your identity with your talent agent. They are the personnel department of the company you hope to work for. As an actor you need people around you that are genuine. Never leave all the work of getting auditions up to your agent.  Market yourself, build your own connections, and initiate work on your own.  Get as many casting directors to know your work as possible.
