Hypnotherapy is the process done by a hypnotherapist wherein the patient will be placed under a trance. The trance is one’s state of consciousness wherein a person is more vulnerable to a bit of manipulation. This manipulation could help that person become more accepting of suggestions. At this same state too, it is quite easy to command the person being hypnotised to change his behaviour, way of thinking, and way of using his emotions. Being in a trance is just like being in that nice moment right before you would fall asleep. Getting into this state is a natural process, which means that the hypnotherapists would not need to use any drugs to be administered to you at all.

The Process
In this same process, the one who initiates the process of putting the patient in a trance is called the hypnotherapist. Basically, the hypnotherapist will facilitate the entire process of controlling yourself. This is because when you are hypnotised, it will be easier for you to become the master of your thoughts and emotions. You will have more control of these two. Then, you can just as easily change your behaviour in order to address your problem. There is also this thing called stage hypnosis wherein participants would be hypnotised to behave in fun, entertaining, and bizarre ways.

The Standards
There are different standards used in assessing hypnotherapists. These standards would be used to assess the reliability of the skills of the hypnotherapist. Thus, you should check them out on the list of the organisation which registers these hypnotherapists. In the UK, you can visit the website of the General Hypnotherapy Register.

The Uses
This process of hypnosis can actually be used to help several problems that you have with your body. These problems are:

• Physical problems. It can help in relieving yourself of muscular tension and chronic pain. It does so because the process can help the body. Moreover, the patient can be taught to control the way that he sees pain so that it would not be so intense anymore.

• Emotional problems. It can help patients with problems that deal with fear and anxiety. These would refer to people with panic attacks, phobias, exam nerves, guilt, anger, grief, mow self esteem, and more.

• Behavioural problems. These are the problems which refer to bad habits such as overeating, smoking, drinking too much, and many other kinds of behaviour that relate to addiction. This can also help you gain a peaceful kind of sleep if you have insomnia or sensitive to other sounds even when you are asleep.

This process used by a hypnotherapist can actually help you with the problems mentioned above. This could help you with your medical problems too. However, you should only associate yourself with a qualified hypnotherapist. There are some of them who are not medically qualified to do so. Although almost anyone can be subject to hypnosis, the process might not work for everybody especially when the patient does not feel secure enough to trust the hypnotherapist.
