The letters are used in the place of closed circuit television because this particular camera has been designed to focus on what is happening in a certain area. The most basic CCTV system is a single camera connected to a special cable which is in turn connected to a monitor. Some have cameras that have cables that don’t connect directly since they have more than one camera and you can decide to use all simultaneously. The ability to take sequential pictures and double up as a video recorder is the other feature of another type of CCTV camera. These security appliances are a common feature of all CCTV systems. CCTV systems nowadays have gone digital and are far more advanced in their applications as much as they are user-friendly. The CCTV cameras are composed of old equipment with new features and the latest software which allow a lot of convenient features. It is important to note that the CCTV camera has an array of functions where it can be used for home security and much more. CCTV systems can also be used to view traffic, manufacturing plants, public areas, for research such as in wild animals among a host of other uses. There are many more functions that a CCTV system can carry out which will require the creativity of its owner. A CCTV camera will even be used to find problems where humans will not fit or where it can be harmful to them.

Early CCTV systems were used to monitor public areas and for crime prevention. Later on the CCTV camera adopted pan and tilt functionality for more reliable use. Convenience stores and shops also started using CCTV cameras to avoid burglary. The kits went on to have high resolution lenses and infrared that was the result of new technology. Currently, CCTV systems have the ability to follow an object as well as zooming in. These are some of the features it has that are available in modern CCTV kits.

Before you go shopping and mounting any CCTV system for your needs, it is important that you know the one that will suit you best. CCTV cameras choice like any other aspect of modern technology, demands that you don’t get carried away and thus end up choosing what you might not need. Choosing the CCTV camera that will work for you will be determined by a myriad of factors. You will have decide whether you want wired CCTV systems or the more modern wireless ones, the number of appliances you need and if you want them indoors away from dust and dirt. Another factor is whether you can access the CCTV system through your cell phone.
