Both working and unemployed single moms have the opportunity to change their lives, by getting their degrees with grants and scholarships for single mothers. With almost 40% of all single mothers at or below the poverty line, the only chance short of winning the lottery to dramatically improve their financial situation is to go back to school.

A college education can be the one factor that evens the playing field when it comes to higher paying jobs. 10 years ago, most jobs only required a high school diploma or GED. Times have changed. A bachelor's degree is considered the "new high school diploma." Meaning more and more positions now require you have at least a bachelor's degree. You have so many grants and scholarships for single mothers to choose from. You could literally attend a 2 or 4 year college or university and have all of your educational expenses paid for in full. For the majority of these grants and scholarships for single mothers, as long as you attend classes and maintain an acceptable GPA you will never have to pay back a dime.

Grants and Scholarships for Single Mothers.Where Is All Of This Money Coming From?

The Federal Government has set aside billions of dollars in grant money and distributed it among thousands of colleges and universities. The Pell grant has helped millions attend school for many years. Everyone has the same opportunity to go back to school. But grants and scholarships for single mothers are especially important. As a major percentage of the overall population it is important to the economy in the long term that you can contribute financially. What better way to be able to do that than by getting a higher paying stable career.

Many scholarships from the U.S. Government due to budgets issues have been discontinued. But there are thousands of little known grants and scholarships for single mothers created by corporations, schools, local charities, national organizations and even many of your favorite restaurants offer free scholarships. So you see there's no reason not to go back to school and continue your education. Sure it's going to be a bit of challenge. If you have young children there are financial awards you can use to help pay for child care and after school programs.

There are grants and scholarships for single mothers available specifically for those that live in a specific area of the country.

If you live in Arkansas, you can apply for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship. Ford Opportunity Scholarship awards close to $12,000 to single parents in Oregon. The Connecticut Aid for Public College Students awards thousands every year based on financial need. If you live in the state of Georgia you can apply for the Hope Grant which awards money for college also based on financial need. Also in Georgia if you did not get your high school diploma but do so in order to attend college, you can apply for a Hope GED Voucher of $500 to help pay tuition.

This is a very small list of grants and scholarships for single mothers. Every state and territory of the U.S. has money for educations available...don't let this opportunity pass you by.
