Develop healthy sleeping habit
Studies have shown that when you lack a good night sleep, your brain can’t work with full capacity. In that kind of mind state, you’ll have difficulties remembering and recalling information (which is essential for performing our everyday tasks).
So, if you want to improve and maintain good memory, you must get the right amount of sleep (6- 8 hours per day for adults). In case you can’t follow this sleeping routine, try to take short naps during the day. Also, you have to know that sleeping too much can have negative effect on your memory.
Eat “brain boosting foods”
There are certain foods that help to improve your memory. These so-called “brain foods” include nuts, mils, eggs, fish, bananas, vegetable, blueberries, whole grains, kidney beans etc. If you are experiencing frequent forgetfulness, you should include these foods in your daily meals as much as possible. Those who don’t have the possibility to eat these kinds of foods can take vitamins in tablet form (B12, B9 and B6). They affect the brain functions positively.
Give your brain a good workout
As every other part of the body, the brain needs exercise to stay in shape. The best brain exercises are those who break your daily routine and challenge you to think in a new way. When you challenge the brain to solve unfamiliar problems, you are giving your brain a great workout. For an example, solving crossword puzzles or playing hidden object games are definitely good brain exercises. They are fun and they challenge you to solve different kinds of problems. Create mental pictures for information you read/hear

Turning the words into images can help you memorize the words better.
Make small changes in your environment
How many times you have read a text and don’t remember a word from the text? If you are facing with this kind of troubles, try to make a little change in your working/learning environment. For an example, try to change the font of the letters. Choose a font that is much harder to read. That way you’ll force the brain to focus much better on the information – says a study made by Indiana University.
