Women might complain about having monthly menstrual cycle but those same women most likely actively fear the idea of going through menopause. The fact is that menopause is difficult for almost every woman. In a lot of ways it can be akin to going through another puberty but, this time, the woman knows exactly what is happening to her and how her menopause symptoms are affecting her loved ones' lives. Everyone needs to understand menopause symptoms because it helps them to be a better support system for the women they know who have to go through the change. If one of the women in your life (yourself, your wife, your daughter, your sister, your mother, your friend) is close to the age where menopause usually starts here are some symptoms that you should look for.

One of the most easy to identify menopause symptoms is the mood swing. It is this symptom that makes menopause closely resemble puberty and (however ironically) the early stages of pregnancy. A woman who is going through menopause is going to have a lot of sudden and hard to explain mood swings. In one minute she can be completely calm. In the next moment she has burst into tears over something that would not have affected her that way a few months prior. If you know a woman who has started acting like this and hasn't recently gotten pregnant and is not going through puberty then she might be going through menopause. Try to have some heart!

One of the cruelest symptoms of menopause makes a women feel as though she's pregnant. If you experience extreme fatigue you could be pregnant or premenopausal. A woman going through menopause is likely to feel what is called "crashing" fatigue. This is more than feeling "a little tired". The type of fatigue I am talking about is bad enough you might not be physically capable of getting out of bed. Taking several naps throughout the day might become common practice for a premenopausal woman. If you witness a woman in your life experiencing severe fatigue symptoms, talk to her about seeing her OB/GYN to determine if menopause is the cause.

An increased itching sensation is one of the menopause symptoms that is often overlooked. Some women who are dealing with the change of life say that their skin constantly itches and crawls. This is not the same as the sensation you feel with dry skin.

Some people compare it to the sensation of having ants crawling under the skin. This can be very disturbing for some women who aren't sure what it is that they are feeling. You should call your doctor if your skin is particularly itchy or you can't seem to stop scratching. You might have developed a simple skin condition. This could be a symptom of your impending (or actual) menopause. Menopause symptoms are varied. Two women could have the same basic menopause symptoms but experience them completely differently. For some women, the symptoms are only mild. Still other women have symptoms that almost cripple them. When you understand your own symptoms you can help other people deal with menopause symptoms as well--after all, the people in your life will have to help you through this change! These are just some of the symptoms you might go through. A conversation with your doctor will help you identify the other things you should be looking for.
